StudioScan collects no personal data whatsoever, and makes no network connections at all. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDK. The app has no networking code in it.
StudioScan asks permission to use your camera, which is the entire point of the app: it photographs artwork in Display P3 wide colour with fixed focus, exposure and white balance, so the colour in the file matches the colour on the wall.
The camera is used only while the capture screen is open. The app does not access your photo library, and never asks to.
Saved scans are written as PNG or TIFF files into the app's own storage on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Because the app enables file sharing, your scans also appear under StudioScan in the Files app, so you can copy them off yourself. That is a convenience for you; the files never leave the device unless you move them.
Deleting the app deletes every scan in it. Copy anything you want to keep first.
Everything the app computes, it computes locally:
No image is ever sent to a server for processing. There is no cloud OCR, no AI service, and no remote storage behind this app.
The app stores a small amount of its own state on your device: whether you have dismissed the reference-card hint, and how many scans you have saved, which is how the free allowance is counted. Neither identifies you, and neither leaves the device. The app's privacy manifest declares this use.
The one-time unlock is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment details, your Apple Account, or your name. The app only ever asks Apple whether this Apple Account owns the unlock.
The app collects no data from anyone, of any age.
